Dunja Kalamir

Dunja Kalamir is an nineteen year-old violinist from Belgrade, Serbia. She began playing the violin at age of four and went through her first ten years of musical education with prof. Biljana Stevanovic. Currently, Dunja is studying at the University of Arts in Graz, in the class of prof. Vesna Stankovic Moffat and prof. Giovanni Guzzo.

Since young age, Dunja has been present at various national and international competitions, and won many awards, among which; first prize at „Arsnova“ 2014 in Italy; first prize at „Stringfest“ 2014 in Serbia; first prize and laureate at „Premio Clivis“ 2015 in Italy; first prize at „Talents of the year“ in Czech Republic; first prize at „Ohridski biseri“ 2016 in Macedonia, first prize and laureate at „Republic competition of music and ballet schools of Serbia“ 2012, 2014, 2016; special prize for the best interpretation of Vivaldi at “ Il piccolo violino magico“ 2017 in Italy; third prize at „Kocian violin competition“ 2019 in Czech Republic; third prize at „UAF International music competition“ 2019 in USA; first prize and laureate at „Memorial of Dusan Protic“ 2019 in Serbia.
In 2020., Dunja is rewarded with Artlnik’s prize „Most promising young artist of the year“ and thanks to this prize she debuts in Antwerp, Belgium with „Casco phil“ orchestra and maestro Benjamin Haemhouts.
As the winner of the ESTA Congress 2022, Dunja performed Saint-Saëns‘ Violin Concerto no. 3 with the „Styrian State Youth Symphony Orchestra“ in Graz and Ljubljana. Dunja had a chance to perform as a soloist with orchestras such as „Prague Philharmonic“, „Russian presidential orchestra“, „Symphony Orchestra of Radio and Television of Serbia“, „Kamerata Janacek“ and „Zemunski kamerni orkestar“.

Dunja had the opportunity to learn at masterclasses from distinguished professors and artists, such as Sergei Krylov, Mi-Kyung Lee, Ingolf Turban, Vlad Stanculeasa, Alexander Pavlovsky, Roman Simovic, Nemanja Radulovic , Stefan Milenković. Last year, Dunja played in the youth orchestra of the prestigious „Verbier“ festival, where she played and worked with some of the world’s leading conductors and soloists. As a member of the Junge Sinfonie Berlin, she played in the great hall of the Berlin Philharmonic.

Dunja regularly plays chamber music with her aunt Stana Krstajić, who is a flautist. Many Serbian composers dedicated their works to their duo „Allegria“.
